By Yozna Tamu Gurung:We all feel so proud of ourselves when we give something to a beggar or when we go to our respective religious places and donate or when we help our grandparents on something.....and ofcourse, we should feel proud about that after all how many human being would do that??? But Is that sufficient??? Is that all we can do as a human being???Just help those who are the easiest to help ??? Is that really good enough???How many of us has actually gone out of our way and helped other??? How many of us has stopped a child working on a road side and checked who made him work, while the child labour is illegal in our country?? Or how many of us have paid attention to an old lonely man of the village and wondered what he might be going through to meet his both ends’ meal???We all go to Temple/Church/monastery and pray and feel good about it but how many of us have often stayed back and thought about cleaning the place where we pray??? Hardly few rite??? I guess thats how we human being are, we help others only when its convenient to help and other times we just complain or pass the buck to the society or to the government .

I am certainly not saying lets convert ourselves to Anna Hajare or Medha patkar, not all can be them. However, what I am saying is Lets walk a little extra mile to help others, lets not help only those who come to us asking for it but lets reach out our hands to help. Lets walk a little extra mile for the society that we live in and lets not be indifferent when we can be a better human being. Not all of us can do something meaningful in our life, for we are mere human beings, however, we can bring a respite to our ever struggling life by walking a little extra mile.......not for ourselves but for others.
