"SAATHI" IMPARTS AWARENESS TO SCHOOL STUDENTS ON
ANTI-DRUGS ADDICTION & ALCOHOLISM
The SAATHI Cell of
Modern senior secondary School, Gangtok organised a day long successful community
outreach programme on the theme "How to eradicate Drugs Addiction & Alcoholism"
on 6th march 2017 at Modern Senior Secondary School premises.
The programme was
graced by Mr.Sonam Dadul,senior Government official cum president of Modern SMC
as the Chief-Guest and attended by Mr. Sonam Denzongpa, Joint Director East
HRDD, Smt Mala
Zigdal Dorjee, Principal Modern Sr. Sec. School, Mr.K.C.Nima, Incharge (FREEDOM,Rehabilitation & Detoxication Society), Mr.Prashant
Sharma, Counsellor(SAATHI), Mr. Silash Tamang,SI, SadaThana, School-Incharges, SMC
members, guardians, teachers & students.
The programme began
with the welcome address by Mr.T.P.Dahal, PGT(Nepali) & group song by
Student members of SAATHI unit. The key speaker of the programme, Mr.Prashant
Sharma, representative of SAATHI(NGO), spoke on social factors leading to drug
addiction & alcoholism, their harmful-effects & remedies towards its
emancipation. Mr. Prashant Sharma's counselling was followed by presentation of
theme-based skit by the students. The Joint Director also made his presence
felt by his rejuvenating talks on the theme. Principal Madam also highlighted
the greater role of schools & community in launching social awareness campaigns
& putting in concerted efforts to fight against such issues that have
enslaved & spoiled the resourceful youth of the mainstream society.
The gatherings was
also familiarized with SADA Acts by lone representative of Sadar Thana,
Gangtok,SI,Mr. Silash Tamang & on behalf of the school family Profound
gratitude was extended to FREEDOM NGO & School Alumni by Smt. Chung chung
Bhutia, Primary In-Charge for their support to the school so far. The programme
concluded with thanks giving address by Mr.Zamyang Wongyal Bhutia, PGT(English).
