A WEEK AFTER DISASTER, WE STAND STRONG

United We Stand A week after Sikkim is hit by a massive earthquake measuring 6.8 magnitudes on Richter scale, many turmoil and difficult phases we have gone through. Many people lost their lives, many injured, many made homeless, and feared to death, many came back from death.......... . Even after a week of disaster, we have not forgotten the situation we were in exactly a week ago. Remembering the moment, gives us a goose bumps. Oh! The bumpy ride we experienced.   Sikkim , lies in one of the earthquake prone area of zone IV of high risk seismic zone. Though many people killed, injured....earthquake is not the real killer. Like in many places, the buildings and poor infrastructure and lack of adequate knowledge has led to many deaths. Knowing the fact that Sikkim could be worst hit, anyone even care and took measures that could prevent it from being worst? His Holiness the Dalai Lama Concerned about Sikkim Earthquake

Dalai Lama With Sikkim CM In a letter offering his condolences to the Chief Minister of Sikkim, His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed his concern for the devastation caused by the recent earthquake in the state. “I was saddened to learn about the loss of life and damage to property that the recent earthquake has caused across isolated Himalayan regions, particularly in Sikkim. I offer my sympathy and condolences to all those families, who have been directly affected by what I understand is one of the worst earthquakes in recent memory,” His Holiness said in his letter dated 20th September 2011.  His Holiness offered his prayers for those affected by this tragic natural calamity and also donated Rs. 500,000 from the Dalai Lama Trust towards relief work in the affected areas of the state.
